buongiorno,
ho installato debian 9.5 su un pc fujitsu siemens lifebook e series E556 con scheda grafica intel hd 520. ho provato a installare i driver i915 dal repository backport,la scheda viene riconosciuta con risoluzione 1366x768 (corretta) , solo che sembra non utilizzare i driver corretti(i915).
Non sono molto ferrato su quest'argomento (se qualcuno ha voglia di spiegarmi come funziona il riconoscimento e la gestione delle periferiche lo ringrazio anticipatamente).
Tornando al problema, se ad esempio mi collego in rdesktop a un pc windows non visualizza correttamente lo schermo poichè la profondità colore è errata, se collego un altro monitor con l'HDMI non viene riconosciuto proprio inoltre l'adattamento dell finestre a schermo intero non è preciso.
Ho cercato di capire come mai accade questo ma non avendo le idee chiare non so cosa fare.

Xorg risulta in running (dal processo)

in /etc/modprobe.d/ non ho nessun file di configurazione per i driver i915 ma ho solo dkms.conf modesetting.conf vmware-fuse.conf.

Come vedete ho un po di confusione in testa.
Xorg dovrebbe essere il server x che gestisce le connessioni in entrata, o si usa Xorg o X11 giusto? come faccio a capire quale dei due devo utilizzare

aiutatemi partendo dall'inizio, perché non sono neanche sicuro che i driver installati siano corretti

Risulta che stai già usando il driver i915, quindi il server X sembrerebbe correttamente configurato:

Per quanto riguarda rdesktop, la resa dei colori non dipende né dal driver i915, né dalla configurazione del server X, ma dalla configurazione del client rdesktop: apri una discussione specifica su questo argomento se intendi approfondirlo.

Per quanto riguarda il monitor esterno HDMI, dopo averlo collegato, verifica con il comando xrandr se è riconosciuto, come dovrebbe essere. A seconda del desktop environment utilizzato, potresti dover configurare manualmente il riconoscimento del secondo monitor tramite il comando xrandr. Che desktop environment stai usando ? Il cavo HDMI è correttamente funzionante (lo hai provato su altro hardware) ?

Grazie, per l'hdmi proverò a fare dei tentativi con xrandr.
per il desktop sto usando KDE plasma 5.8
però per quanto riguarda i driver non sono sicuro che funzionano alla perfezione o almeno non sono sicuro a questo punto che siano i driver giusti,perchè come dicevo non vedo i colori molto belli.
poi ho scoperto che quando il pc va in blocco schermo automatico non riesco più a riattivarlo (devo spegnere e riaccendere il pc) non so se può entrarci la scheda video? (mentre se lo blocco io funziona regolarmente)
e poi con alcune finestre non riesco a ridimensionarle per adattarle allo schermo intero.
Avete qualche idea/consiglio da darmi?

se può essere utile allego anche una schermata del centro informazione di kde plasma,

sembrerebbe che i driver sono caricati correttamente ma alcune finestre non si visualizzano bene (sono piu grandi dello schermo e non ce modo di ridimensionarle) i pulsanti di conferma rimangono fuori dallo schermo visivo.

Dal log inviato, non risultano anomalie particolari. Tenendo premuto il tasto alt e tenendo premuto il tasto sinistro del mouse dovesti riuscire a trascinare le finestre che eccedono le dimensioni dello schermo in modo da poter arrivare ai margini per ridimensionarle.

in effetti questo metodo lo avevo trovato, ma chiedevo se cera il modo di non fare cosi dato che comunque non vedi tutta la finestra. ad ogni modo giocando con qualche impostazione del desktop e delle finestre sembra che sono riuscito a farle entrare nel desktop anche se alcune rimangono sotto il pannello inferiore.

Dal log dici che non ci sono anomalie particolari, ma questi driver mancanti cosa sono? magari è questo il problema, non ce il pieno supporto dei driver con tutto l'hardware

oltretutto che prima la cam funzionava, ora invece dopo qualche aggiunta di driver mi viene riconosciuta come come Keyboard e quindi non funziona più.

Volendo trovare i driver che mancano come posso fare?

Come ti ho già riferito, non ci sono nel log anomalie particolari in riferimento all'oggetto della presente discussione intitolata "driver intel" (nota: sarebbe opportuno che modificassi il titolo della discussione in modo da consentire a chi lo dovesse leggere di capire di quale argomento si tratta senza doversi leggere tutta la discussione).

Le righe del log che hai evidenziato nel precedente messaggio sono riportate del server X con il prefisso "II" che sta ad indicare che sono "INFORMATIVE" e non sono né avvisi di possibili malfunzionamenti (WARNINGS) né malfunzionamenti conclamati (ERRORS).

Per quanto riguarda la webcam, puoi indicare cosa intendi esattamente per "qualche aggiunta di driver" ? A tal proposito, sarebbe opportuno che aprissi una discussione specifica, fornendo tutti i dati relativi alla webcam utilizzata (presumibilmente il sistema la riconosce come periferica USB) ed alle modalità con cui ne hai testato il funzionamento.

Per le altre segnalazioni, è indicato "This device may have been added with another device file" ed, infatti, tutte le segnalazioni (tranne la webcam) sono relative a componenti del sistema audio che sono supportati a livello hardware da altri moduli (talvolta chiamati "driver") del kernel.
